MAINZ, Germany, August 27, 2026 – BioNTech SE as a mother company of BioNTech Group (Nasdaq: BNTX, “BioNTech” or “the Company”) is currently exploring divestment options for its manufacturing sites in Idar-Oberstein, Marburg and Singapore as well as its direct and indirect subsidiaries CureVac SE (“CureVac”) and JPT Peptide Technologies GmbH (“JPT”), following the Company’s planned global manufacturing footprint consolidation. The Company, via its subsidiary BioNTech Diagnostics GmbH, has now entered an agreement under which a fund advised by DUBAG Group will acquire all shares of JPT. The transaction, which is subject to certain closing conditions and expected to close in 2026, supports BioNTech’s strategic capital allocation to further advance its growing pipeline and ambition to become a multi-product biopharmaceutical company by 2030.
JPT is a leading international provider of peptide-based research and development solutions. It will continue operations as an independent, international and technologically leading solution provider for custom peptide synthesis and peptide-based reagents.
“This transaction is an excellent outcome. We continue to explore divestment options for other affected manufacturing sites based on their individual operational profiles through the end of September. This includes partial or total sale options,” said Sierk Poetting, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer of BioNTech. “For JPT, we are committed to a smooth transition, ensuring business continuity, and thank the DUBAG Group for the constructive collaboration throughout this process.”
“The agreement represents a fantastic opportunity for JPT, its employees, and its customers,” said Aurélien Claeyssen, Managing Director of JPT. “It ensures continuity for the company under new ownership while bringing new opportunities for future development. JPT has an important role in the life sciences industry, and we are looking forward to building on that strong foundation with confidence.”
“JPT is an outstanding company with world-class peptide expertise and a loyal international customer base. We very much look forward to working with Aurélien Claeyssen, his management team and the entire team, and to jointly positioning JPT for growth in Europe and North America,” said Sebastian Stalter, Director at the DUBAG Group. “JPT will continue to invest in its technology platform and align its products and services even more closely to customer needs. We would like to thank BioNTech for a trusted and constructive process.”
The exploration of potential divestment options for Idar-Oberstein, Marburg and Singapore as well as CureVac’s sites in Germany and abroad will continue as planned through the end of September. BioNTech will provide an update on the potential divestment of these sites.
